Mr John Jenkins - Arrangements New! Posted by John Chadwick on 9th Dec 19
The funeral is going to be on Thursday 19th December at Christchurch, most likely at 11am, with private burial at 12.15 over the road.

It will then be back to The Junction for a proper send off!

John would have wanted the more there the merrier, so Ginnie and Lisa hope for a good attendance from CWCC.

John Jenkins- Sad News New! Posted by John Chadwick on 9th Dec 19
Over the weekend we lost John Jenkins or “Jenks” or JJ as we all knew him.

JJ passed away peacefully on Friday night and all our thoughts are with Ginnie, the family and close friends.

JJ played cricket for Surrey in his younger years, scoring a 90 opening the batting alongside the legendary Raman Subba-Row, who went on to open for England of course .

JJ was a very, very good cricketer indeed.

JJ was a stalwart of the Club opening the batting and keeping wicket for the 1st xi and 2nd Xi in later years. His last appearance playing was with his son David when they batted together both scoring a 50 - an emotional moment for both them and the spectators.

In retirement John went on to score for the Club. JJ was always a jovial character and great company whether playing or off the field in the dressing room and the bar. He contributed greatly in writing for our 150 year anniversary book; also putting together the montage of the Clubs match vs MCC at Lord’s that hangs in the Clubroom and much more.

He helped with the Colts running some wicket keeping master classes.

JJ was an MCC member and huge supporter of the Club; a lovely man who will be sorely missed.

The Funeral will be at Christchurch and we will notify of details when we have them. We will also update the website.
