Chorleywood Sunday 2nds - Friendly v Farnham Royal |
7th May 00 - Friendly - Away |
Won by 8 wickets |
Chorleywood give Farnham a lesson in honesty
They denied Nige of his well deserved 5 wickets and Paul of
his second catch (yes Calv) of the match when their batsmen punched the ball
into the keeper's gloves and refused to walk. The old boy umpire lost his
bottle completely and didn't give him. We almost threw the toys out but
managed to keep calm to put in the best fielding display in recent memory
including a great low catch at point (Tris), two slips catches (JP), sliding
stops (Junior) and a fantastic runout with Tris scooping the ball back from the
rope, Si winging in it over the stumps and Paul (that man again) taking the
bails off.
We set about the run chase with Si playing strokes all over the
park and Luigi (25*) providing great support. James stepped up at the end
with 10 not out and after a quick look at the scoreboard, advanced six paces
down the track to collect the ball from outside off stump and whip it over
the mid-wicket boundary for the required 6 runs. They came off the
non-walking batsmen who we had earlier caught of a suspiciously bump
ball!
Great game and a full team for curry.
