Chorleywood Saturday 1sts - Friendly v Northwood |
23rd Sep 06 - Friendly - Away |
Lost by 69 runs |
Unfortunately we ended the Saturday season on a low, bowling first on a wet Northwood track following the floods in the area on Friday, our approach of bowling short and wide did not work. Northwood blazed away and racked up 207 with Pete Dunning with 3-56 and Nick Rice 3-40 the only bowlers able to stem the tide. Things were made more difficult by 3 skiers all hitting the ground with the nearby fielders claiming the sun was in their eyes, your correspondent was not sure if this was some sort of end of season gag. Our efforts at chasing down a target which was at least 60 above par faltered early with the loss of 2 wickets before we reached 20, a partnership between the captain and young James Rose offered some hope but when Simon missed a straight one having slogged 37 (reaching 1000 for the season) it was left to James and Chris Tweedie, Chris turned back the years with an excellent 40 but he and James who totalled 27 fell once we go to 140 and the innings tapered out to 150 all-out.
