Chorleywood Saturday 2nds - League v Kings Langley 2 |
9th Jun 07 - HL - Away |
Won by 100 runs |
Chorleywood were inserted on an excellent track at Kings Langley. After a stoggy start the recently returned from Italy (with a much smarter haircut) Jeff O'Dwyer and Skipper Ben took the home attack appart putting on 98 in 13 overs. Both
scored powerfull 50s and for the first time the Seconds batting looked great....... then in came Johnny Lyons, he struck a cool 20* of 12 balls including 3 boundries which all went between fielders legs and was dropped 3 times, it was a bizarre knock which enable Ben to declare early on 205-5.
After tea we started with the old ball and an attack with a combined age of approximatly 150 (no doubt this is the sort of cricket the ECB Schofield report is after)...... Rosie bowled beautifully, flighting and even turning a few and he finished with 5-18 off 9 which include one over going for 16 (he now has a league ave of 7.67), Russel may be disappointed to see his average rise to 4.43 and he conceded 3 boundries for the first time this year but still chipped in with 4-20. At 40-8 Kings were in a spot of trouble, Walters went on the attack and smashed Lyden and PD around, a few near misses and a dropped catch did not help but once Russel came back on the ineveitable happened and we won by 100 runs. Gary Procter who is averaging 7.89 in the league was not needed!
A great result..... we are now looking ok with the bat, brillant with the ball........ now we need to sharpen up the fielding.
