CWCC v MCC - Wednesday 22/07/09New! |
Coming up very shortly, on next Wednesday, 22nd July, we have a prestigious fixture on The Common against The MCC. This will be an all-day game conveniently arranged for the first week of the holidays, so nobody will have to bunk off school!), starting at 11.30am - if you are available and would like to play, please speak to Matt Watson (07988 746966)
Obviously, if you are unable to play, please still try and come along at some point over the day and support the club - the Bar will be open, so what could be better than spending some time on The Common watching our club take on The MCC?
This is clearly a big occasion for the club, as the MCC only play a limited number of games over the course of the summer and it is quite a coup that one of them is at our club - so it is always good to try and put on as good a show as possible and to get a decent crowd along to build up the big match atmosphere.

ColtsNew! |
I am extremely pleased to report that we have four teams through to the County Cup Quarter Finals, a remarkable achievement.
The teams through are: U10s, winners of their league, U11s, runners up, U12 winners and U13s winners.
It is worth noting that the U15s finished runners up in their league and narrowly missed out on a QF place.
I congratulate the colts and the managers that have played and worked so hard to get this far.
The QFs will be played next week, CWCC wish them all the success.
Patrick Ryan
Colts Chairman

Wagonwheels and ManhattansNew! |
I have just made some recent developments live on the result pages. Thanks to the scoring software that Helen uses I have been able to extract the data enabling me to produce wagonwheels, manhattan over rate graphs and run rate graphs.
If you go to any game that Helen scored this season, which has been most sunday games and saturday 3's games, you will see the new features.
Initially you can see the over rates for each innings directly under the innings. Below the bowling there is a partnership table, and below that the runrates for the two innings.
But there's more.. click on any row in the batting, bowling or partnership tables and you will be shown the wagonwheel for that batsmans innings, or the runs against that bowler, or the runs for that partnership. The over rates will now show just the runs relevant to what you clicked on.
The over rates and runrate at the bottom still need some kind of labelling, i'll get to that soon, but you get the idea - the over rates grid lines represent 5 runs, and the runrates at the bottom represent 50 runs.
I have tested this in a few browsers, but please let me know if you get any errors or don't get what I describe above. Remember though that not all matches have this extra data!
The Stage, Boxmoor and Harrow results in the recent results all have this, as do earlier games - Chenies, St Johns Wood, Amersham and Great Gaddesden.

SubscriptionsNew! |
As you all know, Players subscriptions (which, incidentally, have remained the same now for three years running) are now due and need to be paid (ie. Received) by next Sunday, 31st May if you wish to pay at the reduced rate of £130.00. From 1st June onwards they will increase to the full annual rate of £160.00.
As always, making payment directly into the club’s account will speed up the whole process – so please make payments into Natwest Bank, Sort Code 52-21-27, Account Number 01107623 and mark your payment with your name if possible so our Treasurer, Peter Smithson can keep track of who has paid what.
If you do pay by this method, please make sure that you e-mail our Membership Secretary, Brian Mulholland at brian.mulholland@uwclub.net so that he can keep his records up to date and not chase you for non-paid subs!

Paul GraverNew! |
We have received news that earlier this week Paul Graver, who lots of us know as one of our long-standing Umpires, suffered a stroke and is currently starting his recovery in Watford General Hospital. All our best wishes go to Paul and to his family as we hope that he is able to make a full recovery as soon as possible.

Congratulations .....New! |
..... and thanks to Tim Pendered who has single-handedly designed and constructed a new sight screen for the Common End. It is 20cms higher than the existing so that batters can see balls out of the hands of tall bowlers (could be a disadvantage!). One of the other existing sight screens will be extended by 20cms to match. Tim’s magnificent effort has cost about £800 in materials and saved the Club almost a 4 figure sum from not having to purchase new. We are all most grateful to Tim

Club StructureNew! |
Attached is the new Club structure for this year with names of the Group Leaders. There are several vacancies for leadership positions temporarily being covered by Owen and Simon such as Events, Cricket Kit and Fund Raising, and there are more members required in the Action Groups. We would like to see more players volunteering to do a little bit to help the smooth functioning of the Club. So please let the group leaders or Owen know if you are willing to do a little to help with any of the functions listed. With only 3 weeks to go to the season, this is the time to be putting your name forward. Best of luck for the new season.

Can I take this opportunity to offer you 3 ways to boost the economy..
1. We have two more sessions of senior indoor nets, 5-7 on Sundays at Clement Danes - why not hone your skills and at £6 a session help the spending power of the club
