Clive Radley MBENew!
Congratulations from everybody at CWCC go to one of our Vice-Presidents, Clive Radley, who was awarded a MBE in the recent New Year's Honours List for his Services to Sport. Clive is currently Head Coach at the MCC, following a distinguished cricketing career that included 8 Test Match appearances for England in the 1970s. He has also been a familiar face at Chorleywood Common and we are all proud of this latest achievement. Many congratulations indeed (and make sure that you take some Social Membership forms to The Palace!!!)

Jane ShusterNew!
It is with great regret that we announce the death of Jane Shuster. Wife of Anthony (who served twice as Chairman of Chorleywood Cricket Club) and mother of Oliver, Edward, Michael and Kathryn, Jane was a regular scorer for the Chorleywood Strollers and supported Anthony in his activities as Chairman of the Club and Captain of the Strollers.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to Anthony and his family at this sad time.

The funeral is at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Great Missenden at 1130hrs on Friday, 21st December 2007.

....

After a private family cremation, a service of Thanksgiving for Jane's life took place at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Great Missenden on Friday, 21st December 2007. The church was full and there was a very good turnout by the cricket club and Strollers for a very moving service.

Donations in memory of Jane may be made to The Iain Rennie Hospice at Home, c/o Wright Funeral Services, 106 High Street, Great Missenden, Bucks HP16 0BE.

Hair of the DogNew!
As is traditional at Chorleywood CC, New Year's Day Hair of the Dog (HOTD) will be hosted by our Club Chairman from 12.30pm, with some super snacks to complement Andy Orange's well stocked bar. For those enjoying a draught pint, VP Mike Norris has generously donated a polypin of 36 pints to start off our year. We hope to see a good turnout to open the batting of our new cricket year.

Ian Foster, who used to play in the Strollers, has just published an interesting book on Chorleywood and Chenies which has some coverage of both Cricket Clubs. He will be at the HOTD to sign copies for those interested.

Owen and Natalie wish all members a very Happy Christmas

ClubmarkNew!
Yesterday, Tuesday the 18th September 2007, Chorleywood Cricket Club achieved Clubmark status. In attendence at the audit performed by Richard Darwin - Cricket Development Manager for Hertfordshire, were Jane Spurr, Brian Mulholland and Owen Edis.

The Club 12 month Development Plan was also approved subject to some small changes, after which it will be loaded onto the County Board Management Systems web site. A copy of this plan will be kept in the Clubroom for any members to look at. It is a working document that will be reviewed regularly and fully updated this time next year.

Richard Darwin complimented the Club on the work they had done to achieve this landmark. Thanks are due to the main contributors making up the Action Group - Jane Spurr, Owen Edis, Brian Mulholland, Patrick Ryan, Simon Dare, Nick Rice and Denys Downing.

Runs, runs, runs ...New!
Congratulations to Matt Watson who, with his 60 yesterday, reached exactly 1000 runs for the season (694 of them in the saturday league 1's). Darey isnt far behind in the run chase on 844 runs and with a potential 7 games left the race is on! In the wicket chase it looks like a straight fight between the two Watsons with Matt only 3 behind Chunky ... although Dunners could still sneak up from behind if he plays enough games ...
