Martin WrigleyNew! |
From Brian:
Dear All,
I am very sorry to inform you that our Chorleywood Cricket Club President, Martin Wrigley died after being ill for some months last Friday, the 22nd July 2005. The funeral will take place at Christchurch on the Common on Tuesday, 9th August at 1400hrs.
Martin was a great supporter and benefactor of the Chorleywood Cricket Club over many years. He last visited the Club in a wheelchair five weeks ago. He was at as many matches as he could manage and was always present at the Annual Colts Awards Evenings. Martin umpired Second XI matches when I first joined the Club and there was a number of years when he umpired all the Colts matches before failing eyesight made him reluctantly give up these important Club activities.
We are very sorry that Martin is no longer with us and I hope that as many members of the Club as possible will attend the funeral service.

CHAMPIONS!!!!!New! |
After a closely fought match at West Herts last night, the 'wood overcame Harefield to win the Watford Observer Challenge Shield. Having set Harefield 128 to win, thanks mainly to a great 50 from Buzz and a vital 34 from Paul Downing, we managed to keep them just enough at arms length all the way through to leave them needing 21 off the final over, which they just failed to get. Great, committed fielding, tight bowling and a superb performance behind the stumps fromMan of the Match Andy Orange ensured the cup (not the shield, thats another story!) came to the real home of cricket for the first time .... Well Done all and thanks to all the supporters who came along to cheer us on! Photos are now up click on the link at the top!

Club Day - Sunday 28th August 2005New! |
Put the date in your diary, this August Bank Holiday weekend we will be coming together once again for CWCC's annual 'Club Day'. The common will be hosting an inter-club limited overs competition (format TBC depending on
availability) which as usual will be open to all members from Colts, Senior Players through to our Social Members
. If you are available and would like to take part then please email Danny Tipping
(danny_tipping at discovery-europe.com) and let me know by no later than Monday 8th August. If you aren't available
to play but would like to come along and enjoy the 'cricketing spectacle' then the bar will be open all day and as always friends and relatives are most welcome. There will no doubt be a BBQ in the evening and we've thoughtfully arranged a day off on the Monday to help you recover.
Check back here for more details as we have them.

PrintingNew! |
Since some of you (Darey) like to print out results when you do well, I have added a link on the bottom left of each page which takes you to a 'printable version' of the page. This leaves out the left hand side and the top and has no colour in it. For some pages, like a result page, you may then have to reduce the text size (in IE, View->Text Size->Smallest) and set the printing to Landscape - Seems to fit on a single page quite nicely then.

The Godfather Reaches MilestoneNew! |
Congratulations to Mike "Luigi" Reeve on passing 3,000 runs since website records began with his unbeaten ton at Coopers on sunday. This has him currently cemented in second place in the all time run chase, however still a long way to go to catch Darey on 4,300 runs!

Senior Winter NetsNew! |
These start on Sunday, 20th February 2005 at 1700hrs to 1900hrs.
They are at St Clement Danes School Sportshall and will run every Sunday up to the 10th April excepting Easter Sunday. The fee for each session is £7 so if you are coming please make sure you bring your money every week. It saves an awful lot of chasing up! IF anyone wants to pay for all seven sessions at the beginning then give the person who is administrating the sessions a cheque for £40 on the 20th February which saves you some money and saves us even more hassle.
The Cricket Action Group is very keen that all players attend these net sessions to prepare for the forthcoming season. We want to get off to a good start, particularly the First XI, so that pressures are eased as the season progresses.
