Luke picked for Middlesex 2s v SussexNew!
Luke is playing at Vine Lane @ RAF Uxbridge for Middx 2s V Sussex tomorrow (23rd June) in a one dayer (11 am start). Sussex will include Mustaq Ahmed amongst others apparently. Might be an interesting day if anyone has time to watch the match.

I wonder whether he can a late bid for the Middx 20/20 team!?

For those that don't know, he got 146 (off 74 balls) today and I am told his 1st 50 took 18 balls! The opening bowler went for 50 off his first 3 overs - makes our bowlers look economical!

He has also just passed the 3000 run mark!

Kit in the club houseNew!
Message from the Facilities Chairman and Pavilion Secretary to all players, colts and colts parents..

There is an increasing amount of kit including shoes, gloves, pads, bats and various items of clothing being left in odd places on the pavilion premises, mostly in the lobby. In the Pavilion Action Groups attempts to keep our Clubhouse respectable, this is all being put into the middle locker of the home dressing room. So if anybody has left or lost personal items at the Club, this is where they will be found.

Please keep the your pavilion tidy by not leaving personal item lying around in odd places. For those members who need to keep their stuff on the premises between matches, there are spare empty lockers that can be used in the dressing rooms.

2008 Club TourNew!
After 30 tours to Kent (and a bit of East Sussex), July 2008 sees the club tour move to Wiltshire.

There are four matches on really lovely cricket grounds at Goatacre (Sunday 13th), Biddestone (Monday 14th), Box (Tuesday 15th) and Hinton Charterhouse (Wednesday 16th). Mid-week cricket appears to be well supported in the area, so we can expect a decent standard of opposition, but, as ever, everyone on tour gets plenty of opportunity to bat and bowl, relax, play golf, sunbathe (and sing silly songs / play games in the bar).

B&B accommodation for 16 persons has been reserved at Home Farm Cottages (just off the village green in Biddestone) at a cost of £30-00 per night per person and we will be drinking (and maybe even eating) at The White Horse on the green (one minute's walk) most evenings - a late license has been organised for us.

Please put your name down on the poster (supplied thanks to Patrick) in the Pavilion as soon as possible if you wish to come along.

You will want to be part of the club's first tour to Wiltshire - the photos will be appearing in our 200th Anniversary Book in 2051!!!

Any queries - speak to Nick (07971 444888) or any previous tourist!

CoachingNew!
Congratulations to Matt Watson for achieving his Level 2 Coaching Award last week. Matt has also done an outstanding job with Luke and others in running the Colts coaching during the winter. We have a great coaching team in Matt, Duncan, Luke, Michael, Peter, Freddie, Tom, Simon and Steve. We are always looking to help other players get onto the ECB coaching courses when they are interested in helping with coaching our players and Colts, and improving their own techniques. Please contact Steve Dunning our Coaching Coordinator on 01494 764889 if interested.

Pavilion Work 2New!
The second session of the pre-season pavilion spruce up went really well. A tremendous amount has been achieved through many hands. Today we completed everything on the list of 30 items other than the scorebox that Brian has to do, the lobby cupboard that Chris has to do and the strimming round the nets that Russell is taking care of.

For last Saturday we can thank David Brabam (engineer supreme), Martin Henderson, Gary Proctor (master painter), Mike Luigi Reeve, Simon Dare, Mike Rose, Nick Rice, and Rob Dunstone

A quick summary of the second Saturday efforts:-

  • The ladies loo walls were made more presentable and the door painted both sides dark blue
  • The door to the players corridor was painted both sides dark blue
  • The dressing room doors were given another coat of emulsion
  • All the front windows were cleaned
  • All the sinks were bleached
  • The leaky plumbing in the Mens was fixed
  • The phone was transferred to the kitchen so we can keep the bar locked when not manned
  • A CCTV camera was installed in the Bar
  • The shutter stays were fixed
  • All the carpets were vacuumed
  • Unclaimed kit from a locker in the Home Dressing room was disposed of
  • Nets surfaces were rolled

Thanks to all who turned up and put in some effort to make this a bumper Spring Clean.

Race NightNew!
A good time was had by all the 66 people who attended the Race Night organised by the Events Action group at Ricky Park School on Saturday night. The Club made over 550 profit even though many attending were the youth of the Club and their friends. We must thank Simon and Paty, Jane and Helen, Andy O and Simons friend Mike and his brother and sister-in-law, Graham and Gloria, for making it a most enjoyable evening. We hope to do it again next year. We also hope to get the dates out to members much earlier so we get many more, especially the older members with deeper pockets!
