Chorleywood Sunday 1sts - Friendly v Saracens |
10th Jun 07 - Friendly - The Common |
Won by 96 runs |
Despite the friendly status of the match Chorleywood were looking to beat a Saracens side that they had never beaten and also keep up the clubs winning weekend. Put into bat by the visitors, Mike Reeve (12) and Matt Watson (37) got off to a slow, careful start in the face of some accurate bowling. After losing the opening pair, Asad Ladha (102 not out) and Martin Tyler (43) came together to put on 116 for the third wicket, the former recording his first senior century with a
mixture of patient and attacking batting. Neil Ret added a quick 20 at the end to enable 'Wood to declare on 229-3. Saracens reply never really took off and they were always behind the game with Andy Lowe (3-30) doing the most damage and only Bigby making any real contribution with the bat with an unbeaten 46 before they collapsed to 133 all out with six overs to go while trying to salvage the draw.
