| Don't forget Club Day Sunday August 29New! |

As you will notice from the fixture book, Club Day is to take place on the Bank Holiday sunday this year in a thinly veiled attempt to get people to stay and drink in the evening and maximise bar profits!
The planned format is a 6 a side tournament featuring at least 6 teams, follwed by a barbeque in the evening.

From Steve Palfeman (an ex-captain and a Vice President) - 'A neighbour call in yesterday with a poem written by his wife. It was apparently inspired by seeing the shutters down on the pavilion last week'
Over
The cricket pavilion is closed.
The season is ended you see.
The past weeks have seen
Many games on the green
And the wives provided the tea.
People sat on their chairs in the sun
As the scorer recorded each run
And the sound of the 'splat'
As the ball hit the bat
Echoed on 'til the summer was done.
It's not quite autumn yet - but
The shutters are up on the hut
And it has to be said
There is nothing so dead
As a cricket pavilion that's -
SHUT.

| 20TH AUGUST - CHORLEYWOOD PLAY AT LORD'SNew! |

The Club have been given a once in a lifetime chance to play a match against MCC at Lord's.
Following an invitation from MCC to selected Clubs to purchase tickets for the Test match versus Zimbabwe at Lord's (22nd May - 26th May), Chorleywood took up the opportunity and bought an allocation which gave us two entries into the Draw. At last week's MCC AGM, President, Sir Tim Rice, picked us out as the lucky Club.
Although details are to be finalised, full facilities will be available, i.e. bars, boxes, announcers, scoreboards, pavilion facilities, etc. The MCC side is expected to be a strong one with players like Mike Gatting in the frame, so put the date in your diary, cancel the holiday and tell
your friends. Lets' see if we can fill the place!!

| Chorleywood Sign Up Auckland StarNew! |

Due to Luke Vivian being unable to travel to the UK for a further few weeks,
the Club have been able to recruit the services of Rob Lynch from Auckland.
Rob made his debut for Auckland in the State Championship last winter,
batting at No. 3 and keeping wicket. He is rated very highly by those that
know him. He has represented New Zealand Under 19 and is a good friend of
Luke's and was recommended to the Club by Clive Radley who had Rob on the
MCC Young Cricketers in 2000. He played in the Surrey Championship last
summer.
Rob will be shacking up with Sacha Hatteea until he returns to NZ in mid -
August. Hopefully Luke will be with us by then.
