Chorleywood Sign Up Auckland StarNew! |
Due to Luke Vivian being unable to travel to the UK for a further few weeks,
the Club have been able to recruit the services of Rob Lynch from Auckland.
Rob made his debut for Auckland in the State Championship last winter,
batting at No. 3 and keeping wicket. He is rated very highly by those that
know him. He has represented New Zealand Under 19 and is a good friend of
Luke's and was recommended to the Club by Clive Radley who had Rob on the
MCC Young Cricketers in 2000. He played in the Surrey Championship last
summer.
Rob will be shacking up with Sacha Hatteea until he returns to NZ in mid -
August. Hopefully Luke will be with us by then.

Rocky saves KittyNew! |
Chorleywood cricketers, as well as dog lovers, will appreciate this story. Kitty, who is well-known around Chorleywood Cricket Club was recently very sick and on the verge of dying. But owners Andy Orange and Jo Hine insisted the vet made every effort to save her rather than just putting her to sleep. Kitty had her spleen removed and was very poorly after the operation with little chance of survival and the vet said she needed a blood transfusion urgently.
Up steps Rocky, the Rose family’s dog, also well-known around the cricket club, and donates 450millilitres of ‘fine, young, fit blood’. This saved Kitty’s life and her recovery is coming along well. Thanks to Rocky she literally has a new lease of life. Kitty, with a bit of Rocky in her, Rocky and the two cricketing families are reported to be over the moon!

He would appreciate a telephone call from his friends at Chorleywood Cricket Club. His home telephone number is 01923 241877. Please avoid early afternoons.

Player ProfilesNew! |
I have improved the player profiles section. There are nice little bar charts showing frequency of scoring runs and taking wickets etc. Also added a 'Summary' Profile which shows details from all seasons without listing every game.
Look at Luke for a good example of the charts!
Good luck for the coming season!

Chorleywood – Herts County winnersNew! |
Chorleywood Under 12s became Herts 8-a-side County Champions by beating Knebworth in the final at Chorleywood last Sunday.
In a 24 over Ken Barrington’s rules 8-a-side match Chorleywood lost the toss and batted first. Chorleywood set a target of 344 runs to win losing only 3 wickets. Opening with sensible batting and good scores were captain, Robert Stone and Ross Noach with 42 runs. Last pair Ciran Singh and Sam Thurgood hit 58 runs.
Chorleywood’s bowling and fielding was good, putting further pressure on Knebworth. Knebworth had no answer to steady Chorleywood attacks, with 11 wickets falling, leaving Chorleywood winners by 123 runs. Jonathon Larkin took an excellent catch on the last ball.
A great team effort with all eight boys being a credit to the club.
